Norway's room for star meetings
The Solar Observatory has been a center for space exploration since the 1950s. From here, scientists have studied the sun's activity, monitored satellite orbits and contributed to important space research. But what was previously reserved for scientists is now open to everyone - through communication, experiences and courses.
The facility is high and open, surrounded by dark forests and star-studded skies. It's not without reason that this is Norway's most important arena for astrotourism.
The astrophysicist who wants to share the universe
Together with the Solar Observatory Dr. Vegard Rekaa, astrophysicist and CEO of Astronomen AS. He has made it his life's work to make space understandable - and not least experienceable - for most people.
- "This course is not about memorizing star charts. It's about creating magical moments in the dark," says Vegard. - Helping your guests to lower their shoulders, raise their eyes - and feel that special sense of being part of something bigger.

From knowledge to experience
The course to become Astroguide course is designed for those who work in tourism, guiding, teaching - or who just love the night sky. You'll learn the basics of astronomy, how to use equipment such as binoculars, how to customize the experience for your target audience, and how to create an atmosphere that leaves a mark.
It's as much about communication as it is about facts. As much about sensory perception as stellar data. And it all happens in unique surroundings - right in the heart of Norwegian space history.
