Have you heard of Stolpejakten? Then you will quickly recognize the concept behind the Ski Hunt. The difference is simple: here the control-point hunt takes place on skis. essDesign has had the pleasure of designing the ski control-point posters and advertisements for the Ski Hunt in the Gjøvik and Toten area.
The Ski Hunt is a free and inclusive activity offering that inspires both young and old to use the ski trails more actively. Participants register control points via the TrimPoeng app, and the threshold is low – there are no requirements for pace, technique or equipment. The goal is the joy of movement, exploration of the local area and more great experiences on skis.

Among the control points you will find, among others, one located in Madshusbakken, between Eiktunet and Skistua – for those of you who know the area a little
Design adapted to winter, weather and movement
When graphic design has to work out in the ski trail, the requirements are quite different from those on screen or paper. The ski control points for the Ski Hunt are placed along the trail network around Gjøvik and Toten, and must be clearly visible even in demanding winter conditions.
essDesign has carried out the graphic design and has worked with:
- clear contrasts
- simple messages
- colours inspired by winter landscapes and ski trails

The posters should be easy to read whether you are on a leisurely Sunday outing with the family or on a more intensive training session after work. Good legibility and quick recognition are essential – especially when the snow is coming down and your heart rate is high.
A low-threshold concept we are cheering for
The Ski Hunt is a project we genuinely appreciate contributing to. Here outdoor life, public health and local activity come together in a way that makes it easy for more people to take part – regardless of age and ambition level.
The next time you strap on your skis – look out for the ski control points along the trail ⛷️
